A relaxed, but steady stance is the beginning of generating speed and power. How do you attain it?

First, lets talk about stances (dachi) versus postures (kamae). Dachi are for training purposes, to teach one how to stand, shift weight, retain balance, transition to a different stance, and to try to perfect "measurements." So we use stances (dachi) to train ourselves in the basics and for structure. Kamae are postures used in actual fighting situations. So we want to focus on kamae in this article.
